It’s an entitlement!

As I plot and plan my new direction as I announced in this post, I keep thinking of some words that Dylan Wiliam spoke at a conference of his I attended recently.

“Research shows that it matters not which school a child goes to but which class a child is in which determines how much progress that child makes.”
Dylan Wiliam

So we don’t necessarily have a postcode lottery when it comes to progress, we have a class lottery! Depending which class a child is in will determine the rate of progress. This is certainly true when it comes to evaluating the success of blogging. Surely it shouldn’t be down to a class, school or postcode lottery to determine if a pupil has access to a global authentic real audience for their writing – this should be an entitlement for every single child in this country.

This is something I am now so very passionate about and helped me make my decision to move onto a new challenge – risky as it might be. I want to do something about this, I am going to do something about this!

Stay tuned!

And here was me thinking it has always been to do with what class you were in that really mattered? And as someone originally from the working-class, I was pretty sure that was correct… and still is!

We are NOT all in this together 😀
