Another passion of mine…

I have been a big petrolhead since before I could drive and have had a collection of cars from terrible to pretty good. In my spare time, I co-run a car club called NW-Roadsters.

This story of this club began back in 2002 when I bought a little MGF in Gold:

The MG scene is far from flat caps and overalls, the MG scene was and still is full of pure motor enthusiasts and the community spirit that exists since the demise of MG-Rover. I joined local group called the MGF Register (NW) and met frequently with other MGF/TF owners each month. However, when the NW Rep decided he’d had enough with th politics we set up our own group in 2007 called NW-Roadsters. The idea was simple: Create a club where people came first and the cars came second! What was also different about or club was that it didn’t matter what car you had, so long as your car was a soft top with 2 seats. Even that rule was not enforced – Just so long as you were nice, you were in. We wanted the club to be completely free too, something we are very proud of as Myself and Steve pay for hosting and other costs ourselves.

That little MGF was the most reliable car I have ever owned! However, last winter proved just too harsh and after a few spins leaving me shaken but luckily OK I made the decision to let go and try something new. After 6 months of looking, I went for the Honda Civic Type R.

This car is a real beast! I used to take my MGF to pieces most holidays as it was quite a simple little car however, the Type R is a computer on wheels! I won’t review it here and now but here’s a video review if you’re interested:

I have neglected my car club for too long and missed so many meets. It is my New Year’s Resolution to devote more time to it and get out on some fantastic roads – No I can’t flip the hood down but blimey the engine on the Type R is what this car is all about!

Here are a few car related pictures of mine:

I too am a petrol head. Built 2 cars from scratch, one is a short wheel base fibre glass mini, the other is a peugeot 205 CTI. However my career has pretty much ruined my car building hobby ;/

Your Honda is pretty sweet! How does it handle all of the snow? or do you drive something different during the winters?
